The cabin is situated near the ruisseau des Bésines, northeast of the étang. It can be reached in two ways: either by leaving the GR10 on the descent from the Porteille des Bésines, taking a poorly marked trail through scrubland along the back of a slope, or by going to the Refuge des Bésines and then following the GR107 towards the étang des Bésines. A small bridge allows crossing the streams. The cabin is located in line with this crossing.
Small stone cabin with a gable roof, restored in 1992 by the commune of Mérens-les-Vals. It has a fireplace, a wooden sleeping bench for four people, one mattress and two camp beds. Food should be hung high up as a dormouse or a fat dormouse lives there. Plenty of wood is available near the refuge and a spring is located on the trail between the cabin and the bridge.
