From the parking lot of the Port de Balès (accessible by car in summer, in winter you must inquire on inforoute31), follow the road south for 200m, then take a track on the right that leads to the hut. From Bourg d'Oueil, follow the GRP markings west-southwest with signs indicating the Port de Pierrefite. Once at the pass (with a large cromlech), follow the track northeast for 1km.
Rebuilt in November 2015. One part is permanently open, on two levels. Ground floor: fireplace, table, 2 chairs, 1 bench, a broom. Upper floor: a large floor that can accommodate up to 8 people with some blankets, 6 mattresses with pillows, books and games. Insulation is very good (double glazing!), and the volume of the two rooms is small. There is very little firewood in the hut and no trees nearby.
