Good to know

The Cabane des Bergers is a small building that also serves as a chapel in summer for pastoral festivals. The structure is made of stone with a tin roof. The ground floor consists of a vaulted room with a small fireplace at the back of the apse, there is a table but no benches. The entrance door is properly closed with a metal latch. There is a second space upstairs but there is no ladder to access it. It is very quiet in winter, occupied by hunters in autumn and very noisy in summer due to the cars driving up to the summit of Mont Colombis and the herds of cows staying nearby during the summer grazing period. For water, there is a fountain a few meters away on the track descending the opposite side of the access road. There is no wood provided, but it is easy to gather under the larch or pine trees. In winter, you can turn to the deciduous forest located below the cattle gate on the access road, where there are many dead trees.
