Access

Leaving La Chapelle-en-Valgaudémar via the Gioberney road, once the torrent is crossed, a trail (signposted) branches off to the left. It climbs steeply in switchbacks to the NNE, then NNW, crosses (place called "La Bourelle") the torrent of Combefroide and arrives (point 1730 m.) at a junction of tracks. The left one is ignored and one continues NE, still in switchbacks. Upon reaching slightly above the place called "Jasse Vieux", one begins to notice fragments of various sizes made of reinforced concrete...these are not the remains of a bunker but indeed those of one of the previous versions of the refuge, destroyed by an avalanche. You will have climbed 1200 m, in about 4 hours.
