Access

The most direct access is via the path leading up to Col de la Croix, 500 m before Fontaine des Bœufs (44.70952 5.78288). Follow a logging trail (quite strenuous). It reaches 100 m from the shelter. Alternatively, via Chenal, take the Sentier des Pointes instead of ascending to Allières. Go straight ahead (cairn). The trail is partly collapsed and dangerous. Rope and ice axe recommended.
