Access

Summary of information, thanks to those who left details on the forum! The refuge is located in the forest of a high valley that appears difficult to access. It is situated on the old path that led to the Croix des Têtes, starting from Saint-Julien. Access to the refuge: - from Saint-Julien via the via ferrata (old path): This was a via ferrata (more like a via cordata) whose first section was swept away (in 2003) by a rockslide. - from Saint-Julien via the stairs: see climbing topo. Not obvious without prior knowledge. - from La Planchette: through the forest of Beaune then the passage of the burnt pine. From there, it is possible to descend the second part of the old via ferrata, which was not swept away (officially closed but passable) to reach the refuge. - from Tourmentier: climb to the Crêt de la Pare, cross to the other side of the crest and descend the grassy slope (quite steep) – one or two tricky steps near the water point. Good to know

Sleeping arrangements: 6 mattresses gnawed at the upper level, lots of mouse droppings. Possibly 10 places to sleep in total. Saw, axe, brooms. A stove that appears to be in very good condition. Dishes available. Benches and tables. Overall in good condition. Seems easy to heat in winter. No water, but a river 10 minutes downstream.
