From Chapieux, take the Tour du Mt Blanc trail towards the NW. Hiking time: 2h30. Elevation gain: 900m. Other possible access routes via the Crête des Gittes, ND de la Gorge or the barrage de la Gittaz.
The original hut dates back to 1924 and was expanded in 1990. During the summer season (early June to late September), there are 4- or 6-bed dormitories with meals and hot showers. In winter, there are around 15 places, with frost-free accommodation thanks to solar heating, dry toilets, electricity, a wood reserve, gas and crockery. Hikers staying overnight in mountain huts are reminded to bring a sleeping bag liner. Gas supply is reported to be unavailable at the end of November 2024. The hut will be completely closed for renovation work from 17 August 2026 until summer 2029, subject to all conditions being met.
