From Gimillan, above Cogne: cross the entire village to find path N°3 to the north of it, heading towards Col and Lago Garin (2815 m) via the Arpisson valley (the lake is at the foot of Punta Garin, 3461 m). The bivouac is not marked in Gimillan. The col is estimated at 3h15, subtract 15 minutes to reach the bivouac at the foot of the final steep section. From the Arbolle valley, starting from Pila: reach Rifugio Arbolle via path N°14, continue on this path towards Col d'Arbolle. At the Modzon locality, turn right onto path N°18 towards Col Garin. Cross the col and descend slightly to spot the bivouac, located on the flat area below on the other side.
Tiny, cramped bivouac located at the southern foot of Col Garin and Lago Garin. Facilities: 5 sleeping places with mattresses, pillows and blankets; a 6th place is available without a mattress (bring your own in case of overbooking). 4 people is reasonable, more becomes difficult to manage. The lower-level sleeping places offer little space; tall and broad mountaineers may feel cramped. Very little indoor space, barely enough for 6 bags. Water: if ascending via the Arpisson valley, fill up at the spring located on the path edge just before the Arpisson shepherd's hut (do not take water from the stream). If ascending via Arbolle, at the foot of Col Garin, follow the pipe leading to the spring coming from a scree slope slightly higher to the north.
