The Kuhmatten Scharm unguarded hut is run by the farmer of the Oberlager alpine pasture. It is located in the municipality of Grindelwald, in the Bern region.

The hut is located 1.3 km north of the Grosse Scheidegg pass (and the Berghotel of the same name), along a drivable track. It is situated immediately beside this track, on a pass. The official route of the Swiss Via Alpina, between Grindelwald and Meiringen, passes through Grosse Scheidegg. An alternative route option (via Panorama Weg on the west side and Oberlager Alp on the east side) passes right in front of the hut.
A single room of about ten square metres with benches as the only furniture. Wooden floor, clean in August 2022. An outdoor bench facing south with a view. A window that cannot be opened, on the south side. In summer 2022, no other equipment. Adequate wind insulation from the pass, the roof appears to be in good condition. Water nearby consists of cattle troughs; if necessary, it is preferable to ask nearby farms.
