Coordinates: 46° 01' 37" N 6° 58' 13" E From the village of Le Tour (France), access takes 1h40 via a good trail passing through Charamillon. Access is also possible in 10 minutes by taking the Charamillon cable car followed by the Autannes chairlift. From Trient (Switzerland), 2 hours from Le Peuty via the direct route, but via Tseppes or Grands, add about an hour.
Located at the Col de Balme on the Swiss side, with the French border just behind the hut. The refuge was built in 1840 and fully renovated. Sleeping in dormitories, with duvets, pillows, and a sleeping bag liner required. Hot showers only when sunny. The refuge has a capacity of 20 places, but reservations are limited to 10-12 people, possibly to maintain its function as a refuge and accommodate people in difficulty. Meals and bar available. Pets not allowed. 2022: open until September 28 2025 rates: half-board 60 € or 58 CHF. Payment in cash or by credit card (unreliable connection), Swiss francs and euros accepted. Deposit/advance payment/cancellation fees may apply. Arrival requested before 6 PM (notify if late). No winter room available. Languages spoken: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish.
