The Col de Porte must be reached, located on the NNE ridge of La Dôle. From La Givrine (point marked 1208 m), head south to join a forest track, followed eastward (point 1196 m), then south (Couveloup de St Cergue) to Bois de Couveloup. A trail branches off southwest to climb to the Vuarne alpine pasture, which is traversed southwest to reach steeper slopes at the bottom of the combe (south) in order to completely bypass the ridge extending the southeast ridge of Pointe de Poêle Chaud. The Col de Porte comes into view to the northwest, and the hut is located just before it, backed against the last southwest slopes of Pointe de Poêle Chaud. Other access routes exist from France and Switzerland. The Nyon-St Cergue-La Cure metre-gauge railway passes through La Givrine.
Also called the Col de Porte hut. It is usually closed in late autumn, after All Saints' Day, and open in high summer or during the ski season. The hut is reserved for members of the Nyon Ski Club, which may accept small groups of non-members if space allows and with the warden’s approval. Cooking is permitted on site with the warden’s consent. Overnight prices: adults 15 francs, children 6 francs. Members and hut users, by agreement with the warden, may use the potager stove and do their dishes after meals. Drinks are purchased on site. If outside drinks are consumed at the hut, consumers must take their empties back down.
