Refer to the hut's website: http://lerefugedelestrop.e-monsite.com/ Access routes are as follows: - From the south, along the upper Bléone valley, starting from Prads. Cars must be parked at "Eaux Chaudes". The trail first follows the right bank, ascending gently before crossing to the left bank and beginning to climb through woodland. After leaving the forest, a beautiful waterfall of the Bléone comes into view as the trail crosses a crumbling spur in a slight cornice. Several gullies must be crossed, which require caution early in the season (stones, snowslides). Beyond the waterfall barrier, gentle alpine meadows lead up to the hut. - From the north, several options exist. The most direct (and most "alpine") involves ascending the Lavercq valley from [->1693] (cars generally do not go beyond the hamlet of L'Abbaye, 5 km further north, see [->1689]), taking one of the branches of the Eaux-Tortes trail (east or west), reaching the lakes and then bypassing to the east a large ridge coming from the Tête de l'Estrop. Climb the scree slopes (snowfields) crowned by a gap located at the eastern foot of the Tête, which must be aimed for (rockfall possible from the summit ridges). From there, make a detour to the right, crossing several terrace ledges to follow the torrent (the Bléone) at a distance. The hut is reached by walking southeast.
Beautiful hikes, including the [->1120]
