Hut located below the Port de Marterat/Tavascan on the northern side (in France). From the French side: Starting from Bidous or Ossèse, accessible by vehicle, follow the long valley leading to the Port de Marterat/Tavascan. The hut is 60 m below the pass. 4 hours 30 minutes of walking. From the Spanish side: Catalonia, Val de Cardos, Tavascan, Graus (where there is a very pleasant and comfortable campsite/refuge), terminus for non-4×4 vehicles. From there, follow the scenic route to Noarre, then the Port de Tavascan/Marterat (water available before the top of the pass) and descend to the hut. The Port de Marterat/Tavascan is a historic pass between Spain and France. A 4-day circuit has been set up between the two countries, allowing a loop passing through this pass. All information is available here: Muntanyes del libertat. It is possible to drive (4×4 recommended) on a track to the right starting from Quanca, up to the parking area at approximately 1 900 m altitude. This track was in very poor condition at the lower sections the last time it was used; not recommended for low vehicles. This track also shortens the approach to the beautiful Estany de Mariola or the Enric Pujol bivouac (located below Mont Rouch on the eastern side).
Hut renovated in September 2008. Heavily damaged in 2025: numerous cracks and drafts. Equipment: - 1 table - 2 benches - 9 sleeping places with thin mattresses (bring your own + sleeping bag) - A few blankets (thin but better than nothing) - 1 paraffin stove (bring fuel) - No water nearby; easily found higher up the slope before the horizontal traverse leading to the hut (when approaching from the French side). - GSM + 3G reception available at the hut's doorstep.
