You can climb up to the cabin from Mérens-les-Vals via the GR trail, or descend from the Pyramide de Lherbés. Even when snow-covered, these trails do not present any technical difficulties. In the Mourguillou valley, where the river widens into the small Estagnol lake along the trail, the cabin is located about fifty meters from the lake, on a flat area. To your right when ascending; to your left when descending. It is visible; finding it does not present any particular difficulty.
Basic but pleasant cabin; the essentials are present. Single room of about ten square meters; a door (southeast) and a window (northeast). A sizeable fireplace that draws well. Firewood is easy to find nearby. A single bench occupies the entire back of the cabin. Judging by eye, it measures about 3 meters by 80 centimeters. It can comfortably accommodate two people head-to-toe, but in theory it should be possible to squeeze in 3 or 4. For water, the river flows about fifty meters away.
