After the Gâts hydroelectric plant, head straight towards Bornes. 1.5 km further on, the road crosses a bridge and 500 m after that, a rough path crosses a field and climbs to the bottom of the valley. Climb up to the Col de l'Airnoux, then reach the hut in 750 m. The quickest access is by parking at the Reyssets hamlet on the road to Borne. Allow 1 hour of ascent (300 m of elevation gain), quite steep at first, then along a panoramic balcony to the Col de l'Airnoux. The path is marked yellow and green, and additional signs have been installed. A loop is possible via the abandoned hamlet of Serre (return via the hamlet of l'Église). Signs have also been installed at the start of the trail to the hamlet of Serre. Access is also possible from the Rio Sourd gorges via the sentier des Gardes or from Serre Chomille or the Col de la Porte, requiring some navigation skills.
A spring is located 400 m below the hut. To find it, walk left of the hut (from the entrance door), 40 m further on there is a left-hand loop. Descend at a right angle into the left-hand loop, a rough track that descends steeply for about 350 m. The visible spring is located 5 m to the left below the track. The ascent back up is significant, so bring containers accordingly. Facilities: a fireplace, no mattresses, a saw, a broom and a shovel. A low table and two benches. The hut now also has: straps for a hammock upstairs, a single-seat bench on the ground floor, a deckchair and outdoor furniture, crockery, games, slippers, books and a new guestbook.
