Approximately 2h30 from Novel via Col de Blanchard, also accessible from Les Mémises. As the cabin is located near a ski lift, it is likely accessible in winter.
The Chalets de Corniens consist of two buildings. One is locked and belongs to a hunters' association. The other is a sheepfold, and the cabin part is located at one end of the latter. During our visit (August 2018), the cabin was dirty and vandalized. We did not stay overnight but noted the following: 1 stove, 3 bed frames with mattresses, 2 tables with chairs and benches, 1 pot with cutlery, abundant firewood, a fountain next to the cabin (but we do not know if the water is drinkable, especially when there are herds nearby). Upstairs, there are two empty rooms that can easily accommodate about ten people but without mattresses.
