Different access routes are possible: Lathuile: (Route de Saury / Montgelaz), difficulty: moderate 2h walk Chevaline (from the North-East): (Route du moulin), difficulty: easy 2h walk Bellecombe en Bauges (from the West): (Mont devant), difficulty: easy, 2h30 walk. However, you pass by the [->4337] (see file) which can be problematic when snow-covered. In summer, it is well secured, but in case of ice or snow, it can be impressive or tricky. From there, continue on the Monts Devant for about one kilometer to reach the parking lot of Le Reposoir. Then head towards Col de Bornette and then Ailes du Nant. A path climbs through the forest to join the GR trail which leads you to the rock passage that takes you onto the Monts du Charbon. Compote en Bauges (from the South-West): 2h30 walk then joins the previous route at Col de Bornette.
Former alpine chalet built in 1867. Small house with a half-storey attic serving as a dormitory. - the fountain at the back of the hut is only open when the guarded refuge is open. Therefore, you must go to [->1901], - a stove, - wood supply and forest 300m away, saw missing as of May 2018, axe available, - about 8 mattresses but no blankets, - very little crockery, - a small sanitary area with a sink and tap (water turned off off-season) - toilets in the adjacent building (may sometimes be closed...). *** Warning: As long as the neighboring refuge is open (or when herders are present), this hut is CLOSED. This means that access is only possible from October to the end of May *** Located right next to the [->71] (guarded in summer)
