Access

From the village of Réotier (road not cleared beyond this point), continue along the forest road to the hamlet of Mikéou (1500 m). Continue through the woods towards "Les Eymars", a place 1 km further on where a fork is taken to the left towards the Selle cabin, while the next one is taken to the right. Once out of the woods, the large combe on the right is largely bypassed to the east (risk of avalanches from here), before tackling the last hairpin bends and a small ridge, then a wide bend at the end of which the track ends, practically in front of the cabin. It is between 17 and 18 km from Réotier village, with forest and pastoral paths reserved for local residents in principle.

Good to know

Small masonry construction, almost abandoned at the time it was used as a shelter (30/12/1980) and which had no equipment other than an old rusted and collapsed metal bed and other debris. It seems that this cabin has been renovated since (see a photo on this website), but no further details can be provided. Assuming there is a stove or fireplace, and the site being well above the tree line, it is advisable to bring your own wood. Visitors are therefore left to complete the description of the cabin's facilities, qualities, defects, etc. The brand-new building recently constructed nearby is a pastoral cabin meeting current standards, occupied by a shepherd in summer and closed otherwise, and which appears when searching online. Convenient base for trips to Tête de Vautisse, among others.
