You can park at the hamlet of "l'Enclus" or at the start of the cable car, a little further on. About 1 hour of ascent: the easiest way is to follow the forest road to [->3728], which is little more than a shelter in case of a storm. Then go up the avalanche valley (not really avalanche-prone) until you reach the edge of the forest. From there, head towards the valley of the donkeys, climbing slightly to the southeast. The refuge is at the entrance of the valley, on a small hill.
Dominant view over the valley. It is a kind of cirque. The stove works very well. There is no wood nearby; you have to go down a bit. Renovated in 2016. New insulation (fiberglass), new window. +6 places on mattresses. Water: shepherd's trough below, but disabled outside the summer grazing period! May be closed to the public during the summer grazing period for pastoral use. No GSM signal in the cabin, but by moving a little to the north and reaching a small hill, you get a good signal (Orange).
