Close to the GR5 above the Chalets des Ayes. On the left bank of the valley, at the end of a drivable track, below the hamlet of "Vers le Col". If coming from the Chalets des Ayes via the GR, it is possible to continue straight ahead by the barely marked path at the intersection with the forest track. Hut marked on the IGN map.
The name "Gîte" because that is what is marked on site. However, it is indeed a non-guarded shelter. The hut is very large and divided into two parts, with one section strictly reserved for shepherds and closed, while the other appears to be permanently open to passersby. It is in excellent condition with a new roof and fine plaster, which is rare at this altitude. Table, chairs, a large sleeping bench with about ten places. No mattresses, no blankets. Toilets in the same building (side entrance). Water point nearby, a tap is installed on the side of the hut (may be turned off as winter approaches). Spring near the hut and pipe also 100 m away if not frozen.
