In Cauterets, take a small road behind the casino or the cable car to the intermediate station. Follow the GR10 along the gave d'Ilhéou, leading to the hut via a 4x4 track reserved for shepherds and the hut. About 650 metres of elevation gain.
I have not tested an overnight stay, but the welcome is family-like and the meal excellent.
