Shown on IGN Top25. At a bend in the path coming from La Morte (via the waterfall and the start of the via ferrata) and ascending the Brouffier ridge. This large forest track rises gently through the forest on the flank, heading south until it faces more or less the Grand Armet massif. Upon reaching (point 1626 IGN) a large SSE-facing combe (Les Grandes Combes), there are two options: either a trail ascends NW then NE, crosses the Grande Combe (residual snowfields or scree) and reaches the hut after one or two zigzags on the opposite bank. It is located on the shoulder, on the eastern side of this combe. Alternatively, from point 1626, one can go straight across the Grande Combe on a wide forest track that ends further on and turns into a well-marked trail which ascends the spur in many switchbacks until the hut. The forest edge is barely higher up. Approximately 1 hour also from the Brouffier Lake hut. The 800m elevation gain between the hut and the ridge is quite steep, on scree, but the trail is in good condition. Apparently no other connection options: to the east, one encounters a chaos of rocky slabs. WARNING: This entire combe is impassable with snow! It is steep, overlooked by slabs, and the scree barely holds together. To access this hut from La Morte, you must cross this combe (even if the lower part is less dangerous).
Small building on the shoulder. A table in the style of a "rest area" takes up all the ground floor space. Sleeping area above. However, there is no ladder to climb up: door and window are OK. Wood: in the middle of the forest. New stove (2014) with a cracked glass door: handle with extreme caution. Water: from the stream in the NW combe. Nice view (Thabor and Lavaldens valley), somewhat isolated, even if not far from the village. Inventory: complete (broom/shovel/saw). Mobile network: good signal on the terrace in front of the hut (Orange).
