1) Starting from Le Périer (Malsanne valley), between the hamlets of Bourcheny-Haut and Clapier neuf, a trail marked in yellow climbs towards the Drayes hut, from where it continues south to reach the ridge separating the Malsanne from the Valjouffrey towards Roche Moutte. From there, turn sharply east through first low meadows, then zigzagging through scree towards the Col Gary notch (2487 m) located north of the summit of l'Arcanier. Then descend northeast, through characteristic banks of spillites, skirting Lac Gary, until reaching the hut located 300 m due north of the northern shore of the lake, on a small platform. 2) Access to the combe under Roche Moutte can be gained from Entraigues to the south, via the Vet hut: route to be specified.

No wood available nearby: you must have gathered a small supply before leaving the forest level.
