Follow the marked trail starting from the village of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse leading up to Col du Frenay. When you reach a track near the 1190m point, it is most pleasant to follow it until the 1270m point. Then climb the meadow where the hut is located at the end. From there, it is possible to quickly join the Grand Som route to the west via Col du Frenay.
This beautiful hut was likely an annex of the ruined habert du Plat. The forest is eager to reclaim its rights in this magnificent typically Chartreuse clearing where it is located. The hut is beautiful on the outside... but the interior is very rustic, even if the insulation is rather adequate. The wooden door, which is a piece of local history in itself, leads to a single dusty room where the only window, with bars and protected by plexiglass, is very small. A small table, original stools, and a shelf (with a bonus old Scrabble set) add some charm to the space. Two guestbooks are available for reading and leaving your impressions. The stove is functional but unstable. The elbow and the pipe need to be checked. Ashes are swept out with a small broom. Upstairs in the sleeping area: beams, roof, and floor have been cleaned, insulating plastic repositioned, and the floor completed. Upstairs above the storage room: pillars and framework have been installed, and joists reinforced to lay the floor; two-thirds of the surface has been completed. A hammer hatchet was found in the straw, nails are available, there are plenty of planks on site, and plastic to finish the insulation (clean the beams first!). Thanks to those who have maintained and will continue to maintain this hut. A spring is located about ten meters away.
