In summer: in 2 hours from Alpe d'Huez (Besson lake car park) via Besson lake (280 m of elevation gain). Note: since late June 2025, the Besson lake car park has been reduced to around fifteen spaces. In addition, the Besson lake car park is prohibited from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Therefore, it is not possible to leave your vehicle there. Parking is also prohibited along the entire road. It is better to take the shuttle buses! In 4 hours from Oz (1080 m of elevation gain) or in 1 hour from Alpette by cable car (280 m of elevation gain).
Guarded from late June to early September. No heating, no showers, meals served outside, no electricity (minimal lighting provided by portable solar lamps), no grocery store. Meals at 7 p.m. (starter, main course, dessert), breakfast around 8 a.m. (hot drink, fruit juice, toast, cereal), dormitory must be vacated before 9 a.m. During the day, hot and cold drinks, savory dishes, desserts. Full board rate: €43. Payment in cash or by cheque, no credit cards. Bring a sleeping bag liner (blankets provided), headlamp, warm clothing.
