By car From Pau, take the N134 to Gan. Then take the D934 towards Laruns. Drive through Laruns and continue on the same road towards Col du Portalet. The Lac de Fabrèges is on the left. Park 4km after the lake, at the caillou de Soques (a sign indicates an avalanche couloir). Follow the route on foot. By public transport (July-August only) From Pau train station, take bus 806 to Gourette (Transports64, +33 0 800 64 24 64). Get off at Laruns stop. Take bus 806bis to Col du Pourtalet (Transports64, +33 0 800 64 24 64). Get off at "Socques" stop. Follow the route on foot. On foot Parking at caillou de Soques (1400m). Follow a trail where a park sign indicates Col d'Arrious in 2h30. Cross a footbridge (1560m). Ruins of the cabane d'Arrious (1740m). Cabane du Quèbe d'Arrious (1890m) occupied by a shepherd. Col d'Arrious (2259m) Do not descend but follow a trail that continues uphill towards the South East. At Lac d'Arrious, follow the trail that becomes steep towards the East. After passing Orteig passage, head West (off-trail, some cairns) in a slight descent. The hut comes into view.
Reopening of the hut, significantly enlarged and renovated in 2026. Only the original part (late 1920s) has been preserved. If you are interested in the CAF renovation projects, you can download here the current presentation brochure of the 2017-2026 ten-year renovation plan still in progress.
