As for going to Lac de Branlay: either directly from the asphalt road via the marked alpine trail (pass near the pastoral Chalet du Queigey then continue to Lac de Branlay), or via the Logis des Fées track and then follow the trail leading to Lac d'Arpettaz, crossing the Grand-Plan alpine pasture via a ridge, then descending along the slope to Lac du Branlay. On the right side of the lake, the trail passes horizontally to the left of a rocky outcrop and climbs a few meters to a second lake half-filled with aquatic plants. On the left bank (sheltered under the rock) stands this stone cabin.
A rudimentary cabin discovered this summer: three full stone walls, a facade with an entrance opening, a roof with a basic frame. Inside, three wooden benches along the walls (the back one is slightly wider for lying down, the two side ones are just for sitting). The floor is made of beaten earth. Streams nearby but no developed water point. The structure appears to be maintained and in good condition. This basic shelter can be useful in case of need, as there is nothing else nearby (except for the private Chalet du Queigey, occupied by the shepherd in summer).
