- From the chalet de la Perrière, a path almost along the mountainside climbs up to about 1900 m, passes along the lac des Plans, then descends to the Vénitier. Allow 1h30. - From the bottom (parking near Trainant) via the chalet du Tour. Allow 2h30 (elevation gain: 750 m). Note that the access from Perrière along the balcony path is suitable mainly for those arriving at Perrière from the top. This "balcony" path is squeezed between two thick walls of arcosses (no view of the landscape), rutted by the constant passage of cows, well supplied with various streams... making it muddy, slippery and bumpy, extremely unpleasant. Winter: there are a few slopes requiring caution, just before the refuge. See comments.
- 6 places with mattresses on bunk beds downstairs. - 4 places upstairs with mattresses, slightly away from the stove. - Running water just in front of the adjacent building used as a wood storage shed. - A stove. - Kitchen utensils. - A gas stove. - Neon lighting & a solar panel. - Poor insulation. Winter: In addition to being difficult to heat, snow tends to seep inside. It would not be surprising if it is impossible to enter the cabin due to snow blocking the door and locked windows.
