Via forest roads, from Venthon or Albertville, through the Col des Cyclotouristes; or from upstream, via the Tour du Beaufortain trail or descending from Roche Pourrie.
Disused military structure built in 1883. Its architecture is rigorously identical to that of [->10816]. More information on these two forts. Only the ground floor is accessible, with 3 locked doors, one of which leads to the upper floor. The fort door is secured by an interior bolt. Inside, there is a large room, two empty alcoves, functional double Turkish toilets (as indicated by a sign on the door and the presence of toilet paper rolls), an old broom, a large table for about 8-10 people (squeezed in), but only one bench and two chairs. Plenty of space, solid as a rock, but no heating, no equipment, no water, and the feeling of living in a prison. No stove, no sleeping platforms as in 2007; the walls have been refreshed and graffiti has started to appear. Some displays of activities proposed by local associations suggest the place is frequented by hiking/snowshoeing groups, etc. It is truly only a last-resort shelter or a place for a picnic in case of bad winter weather.
