From Albertville by car, reach the col des Cyclotouristes (1315 m) via a winding small road, passing by the fort du Mont. Then, on foot, follow a south-east forest track for just over 200 m before taking shortcut trails (yellow markings). At 1430 m, leave the route on the right leading up to the blockhaus des Têtes and continue straight on the track to a junction (1448 m). Then spot the start of a trail on the right, indicated by a sign. Leaving old paths on the left leading towards les Chappes, it arrives at Haut du Pré. Reach its shepherd's hut (spring), then descend a clear valley to the north. After 500 m, the hut is found on the left, at the edge of the forest.
This small hut is an old shepherd's hut, rebuilt in 2005, and very basic. Inside: a bench, a table, 6 chairs, an old stove (which appears to be out of order), 2 bunk beds with foam mattresses, and two guestbooks. The insulation is adequate. The door closes well both inside and outside, and there are no windows.
