Access routes: - From the Bellecombe car park, follow the trail to Plan-du-Lac, then continue on the herder's track heading roughly NE then E, crossing the Rocheure stream near La Bourgeat. Continue along the right bank of the stream to the huts. Allow 2h30 to 3 hours. - From Val-d'Isère via the Col de la Rocheure, descend roughly SW, always keeping to the right bank of the stream. Allow 1h15 to 2 hours depending on conditions. - From the Sana, via the La Leisse hut, take the VN trail from the collet at the base of the western ridge, following the remains of the Sana glacier (E). From here, turn SW then S-SSW along scree slopes, streams and rounded, grassy rocky ridges. Allow 3 hours from the summit. - From the Pointes du Châtelard, via the Vallonbrun hut (cornices!), descend on the right bank of the Vallonbrun glacier (crevasses!), keeping to the right bank of the stream until it meets the Rocheure stream. A footbridge should allow you to cross this sometimes deep gorge, then climb up to the nearby hut.
24 places outside the guard period Camping allowed Winter refuge: small comfortable hut, water source nearby, wood inside, gas and cooking utensils. Broom, saw and axe. Dormitory with blanket and pillow. The stove draws well and heats the room efficiently. 12€ per night in winter. This hut is a good starting point for a variety of hikes and climbs. In addition to the routes mentioned above, consider the Pointe de Méan-Martin, the Signal and the Aiguille du même nom, and the Méan-Martin / Châtelard ridge: poor rock but snow/glacier routes with fine views (crevasses!).
