Haute Maurienne (south-east Vanoise), right bank of the Arc river, Grand Roc Noir area. Map: IGN 1:25000 sheet 3634 West "Lanslebourg-Mont Cenis". The hut is on the GR5 trail, which here serves as a balcony path on the right bank of the Maurienne valley. Several access routes: either from Lanslevillard via "le Coin" and "Plan de la Cha", or from the Collet hamlet on the small road of the (false) Col de la Madeleine via Le Mollard, or via the Grattais forest road (starting near Pré Clos on the D.902) via La Fesse d'en bas.
Former chalet built in 1819, renovated and converted into a mountain hut in 1969.
