Located on the GR55 and the Tour des Glaciers de la Vanoise. From Pralognan-la-Vanoise: The "normal" route leads towards Fontanettes or park there (paid parking since 2025 in summer, free shuttle from the village) then reach [->476] and Lac des Vaches. Another route passes via Mont Bochor and [->9881]. In summer, the Mont Bochor cable car and the Génépi chairlift shorten the ascent. From the bois de la Glière, it is also possible to reach the hut via the vallon de l'Arcelin and lac des Assiettes. In winter, the ski lifts (Edelweiss chairlift + Génépi chairlift) lead to [->476]. From Entre deux Eaux: Cross the Croé Vie bridge and reach the col de la Vanoise via lac du Col de la Vanoise and lac Rond.
98 beds in the new hut and 32 in the old one. The two annexes from 1971 have been dismantled. Toilets on the ground floor are freely accessible: no need to relieve oneself in nature. Camping: The bivouac experiment launched in 2021 for 10 tent sites (paid and subject to prior reservation by email) has ended. Bivouac is no longer permitted near the hut. Outside the guard period: Since 2022, booking is now required via the ffcam website at: https://refugecoldelavanoise.ffcam.fr/reservation-hg.html 28 beds, stove and gas available.
