From France, go up the Sabion valley, then pass the Sabion pass, turn slightly right and descend about a hundred meters. The hut is on the slopes about fifty meters above the lake (Lago della Vacca). From Italy via the Valle d'Entracque, climb a little further than the lake. From the Col dei Vei del Bouc, descend about 300-400m, a path descends into the valley towards the lake, you just need to climb a little on the other side; another path runs along the ridge that forms the border with France, do not stop at the first ruined barracks about 200m below this pass but continue to the Sabion pass and turn left on the Italian side.
Beautiful small Italian barracks just below the Sabion pass, renovated and opened on August 13, 2017. Extremely well stocked with water bottles, matches, blankets, and canned goods when we were there. Only drawback: in case of rain, you must close the door shutters, otherwise water seeps inside.
