From Lavachey, 3 hours uphill towards the rocky outcrop where the bivouac is located. Previously, it was necessary to cross part of the Frebouze glacier at the end of the ascent, but with the glacier's retreat, it seems this is no longer required and one can simply follow the glacier's terminal tongue on its left bank. Contrary to what some maps indicate, access to the bivouac is from below with 30m of new blue fixed ropes (as of September 2017), meaning there are two rope sections from Lavachey.
Built in 2011 and opened in 2012 to replace a wooden cabin dating from 1961. Its appearance resembles a space capsule jutting out over the void, with a white and red exterior that stands out in this high-mountain environment. A stopover for the ascent of the south face of the Grandes Jorasses (Pointe Walker) and the east face of the Petites Jorasses.
