From Courmayeur in 5 hours. From Planpincieux 1200 m of elevation gain, 3 hours 30 minutes. Difficulty F, route no. 21. The forest quickly gives way to alpine pastures which in turn disappear to leave room for a mineral environment. A few gullies must be crossed (easy) as well as a metal staircase allowing to pass a chimney (easy). The path then climbs a moraine until reaching below the refuge visible on the left. The path then turns west to cross slabs, helped at the end by some cables and chains (easy). Some summers, the access path is forbidden due to possible collapses of the Planpincieux glacier, check the website before going there.
Built in 1881, renovated in 2017. Indicated as closed on the CAI website. Stage on the ascent of the south face of the Grandes Jorasses (Pointe Walker).
