Access in 3h (alpine trail type and [->10669]): from La Visaille, cross the Doire river, then immediately turn left onto a good mule track. Climb by crossing 2 moraines and 1 stream, then turn right onto the branch leading to the Monzino refuge. After 10 minutes of ascent, a first rocky barrier is crossed from left to right, then straight up. This barrier is not equipped except for a few chains. Caution is required even if the route is easy. Then climb a narrow trail straight up the slope until you reach (on the left side) the large rocky barrier with waterfalls that closes the cirque. Here begins the via ferrata (steep) for at least 100m with a short section of equipped trail (cabled ledge) in the middle. The second part after the ledge is easier. After exiting the rocky barrier, a good trail climbs towards the bottom of the cirque, then turns left to reach the ridge where the refuge is located. A new rocky barrier is crossed via a short cabled chimney. Beyond that, the trail gradually ascends to the grassy ridge on which the refuge stands. After another 10 minutes, you arrive at the refuge.
The refuge terrace overlooks a rocky barrier directly. Guaranteed view of the Val Vény!
