Access to the bivouac is reserved for equipped individuals with minimal alpine experience as a glacier must be crossed. Summer (easy): Grimsel Hospice - Meder - Unteraargletscher - Finsteraarggletscher - Strahlaargletscher. Winter (slightly difficult): Grimsel Hospice - Oberaar - Oberarrbach - Unteraargletscher - Strahlaargletscher. (Grimselsee dangerous).
- The bivouac has 17 sleeping places with mattresses and blankets. - Cooking utensils and cutlery are available on site. - Three camping gas stoves and reserve cartridges are theoretically available. As a precaution, it is advisable to bring a spare stove. - A barrel collecting rainwater is located 30 metres south under the cliff or snow can be melted on the glacier 15 minutes away. - Drinks and non-alcoholic beer are available. - A rescue radio is located in the bivouac; mobile phone reception is not possible. - Lighting is available.
