Access

Starting from the Grimsel Pass, accessible by postal bus from Oberwald (Valais) or Merrigen (Berne). A shuttle is available from the pass to Oberaar Lake. Follow the left bank of the lake, then ascend the Oberaar Glacier (Oberaargletscher) to Oberaar Pass (Oberaarjoch) at 3216 m. Use the ladders while taking care of falling rocks. This is the shortest route.

Good to know

No running water (mineral water: 12 Swiss francs per 1.5 litre). Half board, simple meals, drinks during staffed periods. 22 winter dormitory places.
