From Lourtier a small unpaved road climbs up to the cabin via La Cougne. Alternatively, from the same starting point, a marked trail goes via Plan Rosay and Le Tougne to La Cougne, where it joins the previous route. In winter the road is no longer passable, of course.
From mid-December until the end of the winter season, the cabin is open and is often used as a base for ascending Mont Rogneux. Places are therefore available in the winter refuge.
