Located at the foot of the Vieux-Emosson dam. From the Emosson dam (Le Châtelard, Switzerland), take the road that leads in 1 hour to the Vieux-Emosson dam. Guarded from mid-June to mid-October by the owners of the snack bar. The hut is located at the foot of the dam and the snack bar, under a rock. Winter access is difficult and can be done from the Vieux-Emosson lake by following a ledge just above the summer path. This ledge leads to a small then a very large cairn. A 40° snow slope over a few metres allows you to cross the barrier and descend to the level of the dam. The last barrier is bypassed on the right. Depending on conditions, ice axes and crampons are recommended.
Small wooden cabin in good condition. Good equipment: kitchen, crockery, dormitories with blankets, toilets. In summer, it is possible to have a meal at the snack bar, but the hut operates on a self-service basis, even though payment must be made directly at the snack bar. In summer, collect the keys from CAS-Martigny or from the snack bar above the hut. In winter, collect the keys in Finhaut from the managers.
