The non-guarded Abeurons hut is located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. It is publicly owned and situated in the commune of Thorame-Basse.

From Thorame-Basse, a narrow road climbs northwards along the right bank of the Issole stream to the hamlet of La Valette where it ends (parking is not easy there...). A small trail starts behind the chapel, initially southeast, crosses a stream bed and then climbs east-northeast along its left bank. After just over a kilometer, a right-hand valley is ignored as it continues in the same direction to turn into another valley on the left, heading north-northeast and now along the right bank. You reach a sort of col (point 1925 m) marking the junction with another northwest-descending valley, which you follow briefly for about 500 meters. The huts are on the slope of the right bank, about 250 meters as the crow flies from the thalweg. Allow about 1 hour 45 to 2 hours in this direction.
There were three small pastoral buildings side by side, one of which had a cluttered space with rather worn odds and ends, including what I believe was the frame of an old metal bed. The hut on the right is open with a low side for 2 people (and some shepherd's equipment). Note that in summer and autumn, at least before snow arrives, water is a very scarce resource in these barren areas.
