By car From Saint Girons, take the D618 towards Castillon en Couserans. Drive through the village and continue straight ahead towards Sentein on the D4. In Lascoux, be careful to take the D704A (a very small road) on the right, as the left side leads to the left; follow the signs for "La Pucelle" until you reach the equipped parking area (tables, toilets, barbecues). On foot From the La Pucelle parking area, take the trail towards Port d'Orle, marked as a cross-border GR trail, which follows the Orle river. At one point, the GR10 comes in from the right, in a flat grassy area at the valley bottom; then follow the GR10 to cross the Orle on a bridge at 1081m. Follow the GR10 for 5 minutes. In the first right-hand bend, a sign indicates to turn left for the hut. 10 minutes further on, the hut is located in its pasture.
Large two-storey hut, open to hikers all year round. Ground floor: * A fireplace * Three tables and stools * Some crockery * Firewood (there is also some in the second part of the hut, right-hand door) * 2 wood saws * 3 barbecue grills of various sizes * 1 night light (4 LR6 batteries) * guestbook Upper floor: * 6 mattresses. The insulation is very poor, the corrugated metal roof lets in a lot of cold air. I imagine the fireplace heating is not enough to warm the whole space in winter. There is a mine marked on the IGN map nearby, but it is walled up and inaccessible.
