Access

From Salau: take the Cougnets trail opposite the café in Salau, this yellow-marked path climbs southeast to the old Anglade mines (also accessible by car via the road continuing south of Salau). From the terminal parking area, the shepherd’s hut is visible to the east. Continue on the yellow-marked trail through the forest eastward, cross the stream on a footbridge, then follow steep switchbacks up to the alpine pasture and the shepherd’s hut, which consists of two parts: the right side reserved for the shepherd, the left side for hikers. Water: a spring feeds a trough 20 m north of the cabin. Firewood: dead wood can be found to the south in the wood covering the southern ridge.

Good to know

Indoor equipment: 1 table, 2 wooden sleeping platforms (wide enough for 3 people), additional rolled-up mattresses available beyond the 2 in place, 1 broom. Caution: the inner door does not close properly (broken handle). Update on the Anglade tungsten mines: a revival project for the Anglade mines was relaunched in 2016.
