Les Cabannes, Aston Valley: Drive to the foot of the Riète dam. 500 metres before the foot of the Riète dam (1040 m), the GR10 is crossed, parking. Take the GR10 heading west, a steep climb through the forest on a path that can be very muddy (in spring), then the path levels off (mud!, mud!) until a footbridge where you can turn completely right (around 1500 m). Leave this path (GR10) and continue straight ahead, crossing a sheepfold that can be very wet. Follow the left bank of the stream, arriving at [->5391] on a small hill to the right, then turn east into the clearing that climbs towards a wood. Cross this small wood to reach the grassy ridge overlooking the wood, then continue southwest roughly along the slope, a more or less marked path, never climbing, following the curve of the terrain to descend slightly and reach the hut. Allow 1 hour 15 minutes from l'Orri.
Solid small building, very well insulated, in 2 parts: 1 part closed for the shepherd, 1 part for hikers. Interior equipment: 2 sleeping platforms with mattresses, 2 tables, 2 chairs, 1 stool, 1 sink + tap (not working at my visit). Presence of mice! (beware of food!). Exterior equipment: 1 barbecue with 1 grill.
