From the parking lot at Les Confins, a 4x4 road leads to the refuge. Approximately 1 hour on foot. Access is also possible from the Bouchet valley or the Col des Annes area via the Chalet du Planet.
The refuge was built in 1945 and has been open since 1987. No winter refuge. Payment accepted in cash, bank check, and credit card for purchases over 10€. When water sources dry up in the combes des Aravis during summer, the refuge can no longer refill hikers' water bottles. Very busy during the day due to its attractive food service. Quieter in the evening. Avoid visiting on Sundays as locals from the valley come for lunch. Languages spoken: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish.
