Access

Starting from Chamonix, take the Montenvers train. Descend to the Mer de Glace, then climb it up to [->10590]. Allow 6 hours from the Montenvers. There is no major difficulty if properly equipped. However, it is a glacier, so ice axes and crampons will be very useful. Sunglasses and long pants are mandatory. Gloves are recommended. The old route via the Leschaux glacier and the [->7609] is no longer recommended, as the ladders and path are no longer maintained.
