From Montenvers, the terminus of the Montenvers railway. Technical ascent, reserved for experienced hikers with mountaineering experience. You must cross the Mer de Glace, cross moraines, climb ladders, etc. The former route via [->10589] is no longer possible since 2016; you must take the [->10590] higher up on the Mer de Glace heading southeast.
New mountain hut since 2023. 14 beds in 1 dormitory. Comforters, blankets, and pillows provided. Silk sleeping bag liner or sleeping bag mandatory. Overnight stay: €27/person (€15/guide). Meal: €28/person. Breakfast: €15/person. Payment in cash or checks, credit card unreliable depending on the network. Languages spoken: French, English, German, Italian, Spanish.
