Either from Besse, via the chalet Josserand and then along the right bank of the Rif Tort (GR 54), or from Mizoën via the GR 50. You can go up one way and down the other: long, but the view of the glaciers of the Girose and Mont de Lans, the Rateau, etc., is worth it. Similarly, access from the east (Le Chazelet) allows a crossing of the plateau. An average of 3 hours should be allowed for each option.
Well located on the Plateau d'Emparis, near the lac des Mouterres (maps show "Moutières"). You can reach the Pic du Mas de la Grave by following the Rif Tort upstream to its source, passing through the collet at 2271 m and the combe du Rachas. The hut is guarded during the summer and remains closed in winter. Overnight camping nearby is subject to a fee (2 €). Photos and all information are available on the hut's website.
