Access

All classic access routes to the plateau d'Emparis, namely: from the east (La Grave or Le Chazelet), from the southwest (Mizoën) via Les Chatons or Les Clots, from the northwest (Besse) via Col St Georges; note that there is no water on this section until the hut. Timetables depend on the chosen elevation gain. It should be noted that the outskirts of the plateau d'Emparis are covered by pastoral roads with natural surfaces, generally reserved for locals in the central areas. Their length and profile often deter standard tourists who want to keep their car intact...However, it is a fact that some people drive from Besse to Col St Georges (Chalet Josserand), where there is a "discharge" parking area. Despite this, the area remains quiet. One might expect crowds on the plateau d'Emparis on fine days, but fortunately this is not the case.

Good to know

- Running water, except during prolonged severe drought, which is rare. - A shower. - Half-board rate this year (2012): €33. - Open from mid-June to late September. Closed outside this period. - No winter room. - Bunk beds on the first floor. - Toilets on the ground floor, accessible from the outside (west side). - Electricity from solar panels. - Area accessible to GPS devices. Last but not least: the welcome is warm, the food good and plentiful; in short, you are well looked after. Note: Water point for hut guests only (not for hikers: you must go to the river to fill up).
